1946: A new rival league known as the All-American Football Conference is formed. The league consist of 7 teams Baltimore Colts, Buffalo Bills, Chicago Hornets, Los Angeles Dons, New York Yankees, San Francisco 49ers, and the Cleveland Browns.
1950: Going into the NFL most experts thought the Browns would be exposed as benefiting from a weaker league, but the Browns proved that they could dominate any league in their inaugural NFL campaign. The Browns make their NFL in grand style by routing the Eagles 35-10 in Philadelphia on September 16th. The Browns would go on to finish the season with a 10-2 record which was good enough to finish in a 1st Place tie with New York Giants. This would set up the Browns in a Divisional Playoff Game against the Giants who gave the Browns their only 2 losses. However this time the Browns would get revenge by beating the Giants in an 8-3 defensive struggle to earn a trip to the NFL Championship Game. The 1950 NFL Championship game in Cleveland had a mixture of sub plots and irony. The game matched up the Cleveland Browns who were in their 1st NFL season and the Los Angeles Rams, who played in Cleveland from 1937-1945. The Browns would pull the game out 30-28 winning their 5th Championship in their 5th year of existence.
1954: The Browns get off to a shaky start losing 2 of their first 3 games. However the Browns would then go on to win 8 straight on their way to a 9-3 season which was good enough for a 5th straight trip to the NFL Championship. In the Championship Game a Day after Christmas the Browns were matched up with the Lions for the 3rd year in a row. However, the Browns would put all their frustrations of the previous 2 years into a 56-10 rout at Municipal Stadium.
1955: The Browns finish with a 9-2-1 record good enough for 1st place in the Eastern Conference yet again. This marked the 10th time the Browns earned a trip to their league's championship game in the Browns 10 year existence. Once again the Browns are lead by QB Otto Graham who wins his 2nd MVP in 3 years in what would turn out to be his final season. Graham would go on to lead the Browns to their 3rd NFL Championship with a 38-14 win over the Rams before 87, 695 fans in Los Angeles.
1964: With Jim Brown having another dominate season, the Browns get off to an 8-1-1 start. However, 2 losses in the 3 games put their NFL Championship hopes in doubt. To win the Eastern Conference the Browns needed a win New York over the Giants, a place they have had their troubles with over the years. Luckily for the Browns, the Giants were an aging group of veterans that had struggled all season, and the Browns took full advantage winning 52-20 to advance to the NFL Championship game for the 8th time. In the NFL Championship Game at Municipal Stadium in front of almost 80, 000 fans, the Browns would have no problem at all dispatching the Baltimore Colts. The Browns would end up sewing up their 4th NFL title with a 27-0 win.

Did You Know
The '''Cleveland Browns''' are a professional American football team based in Cleveland, Ohio. They play in the Northern division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Cleveland Browns began play in 1946 as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference and joined the NFL in 1950 after the AAFC folded. The team won all four AAFC titles and had one undefeated season (1948 - 15–0), as well as four NFL Championships.
History
1946–1949: The AAFC years The Cleveland Browns were founded in 1946 as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference, under businessman Arthur B "Mickey" McBride. Not long after gaining the franchise, McBride named Ohio State Buckeyes coach Paul Brown as vice president, general manager and head coach. A fan contest was conducted to determine the name of the team, with the most popular choice being "Panthers." However, Brown objected to the name after finding out it had been used by a semipro team in the city—one that had a reputation as a chronic loser. This prompted a second contest to choose a name befitting a champion. This contest yielded the nickname "Brown Bombers"—after reigning heavyweight champion Joe Louis—and was shortened to "Browns" for the convenience of headline writers. However, to this day, the myth that the team was named after Paul Brown persists.
Brown parlayed his ties to the Buckeyes and the Navy (where he'd coached a base football team during World War II) into the most extensive recruitment network that had ever been seen at the time in pro football. He used it to assemble a team that, in terms of talent, would have been more than a match for any NFL team—including quarterback Otto Graham, kicker/offensive tackle Lou Groza, wide receiver Mac Speedie, fullback Marion Motley and nose guard Bill Willis. The Browns dominated the AAFC, winning all four of its championships including the 1948 season in which they became the first unbeaten and untied team in professional football history—24 years before the NFL's perfect team, the 1972 Miami Dolphins. Cleveland's undefeated streak (including 2 ties) reached 29 games, and included 18 straight wins and the 1947 and 1948 AAFC championship games. During the AAFC's four-year run, the Browns lost only four games. The Browns issued occasional challenges to NFL teams, only to be turned down almost out of hand each time.
Thanks in large part to McBride's promotional efforts, the Cleveland area showed terrific support for the Browns from the moment they were created. The team saw a record setting average attendance of 57,000 a game in its first season.[Neft, David S., Cohen, Richard M., and Korch, Rick. ''The Complete History of Professional Football from 1892 to the Present.'' 1994 pg. 194 ] The Browns unexpectedly had Cleveland to themselves; the NFL's Cleveland Rams, who had continually lost money while in Cleveland despite winning the 1945 NFL championship, moved to the booming area of Los Angeles after the 1945 season (the team is now located in St. Louis).
