Texas_Rangers_Tickets The phrase "pitchers and catchers report" indicates to Rangers fans that the 2007 season is close at hand. But for those behind the scenes, nothing signals the start of the baseball season like "moving day." A crew of employees from the Rangers and North Dallas Moving and Storage Company, as well as team mascot Rangers Captain, loaded equipment at Ameriquest Field on Friday morning, with the truck bound for Surprise, Ariz. "It means the season is on the horizon," assistant clubhouse manager Dave Bales said. "It gets the ball rolling toward Opening Day." The biggest difference between this year's moving day compared to past seasons is the number of trucks the Rangers are using. Two big rigs instead of one will arrive at the Rangers' Spring Training complex in Arizona. Jim Karalla of North Dallas Moving and Storage Company said it was the first time that Texas needed two trucks since the team moved its Spring Training facility from Florida to Arizona. "It's like rabbits," Karalla said. "It keeps expanding every year." The crew will face the monumental task of unloading the trucks when they roll into Surprise on Monday. "It takes more time to unpack than pack," Bales said. "It will take us a couple of days to unload the trucks and get everything in place once we get there." While more equipment gets sent to Surprise every year, the amount of time to load it has decreased, according to Karalla. "It gets easier every year," Karalla said. "The first year we were out here until four in the afternoon. We've knocked about an hour off every year after that. It's down to a science." Rangers pitchers and catchers report to camp on Feb. 17, and the first full-squad workouts begin on Feb. 22. The Rangers open their Cactus League schedule on March 2 against the Kansas City Royals

Did You Know

The '''Texas Rangers''' are an American professional baseball team based in Arlington, Texas, United States. The Rangers are a member of the Western Division of Major League Baseball's American League. From to the present, the Rangers have played in Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The "Rangers" name originates from the famous law enforcement agency of the same name.

An expansion franchise, the club was founded in Washington, D.C. in and was called the '''Washington Senators''' (not to be confused with the Washington Senators that left D.C. after to become the Minnesota Twins). The team then moved to Arlington in and became the Rangers. The Rangers are one of the least successful teams in MLB history, being one of four teams to have never played in a World Series, having never won a league championship. They are also one of only two franchises to have never won a playoff series since the franchise's inception in 1961.
